Jack O Lantern Pattern
Jack- O-Lantern is carved from pumpkins. These jack o lantern made from hollowed pumpkins are displayed usually on Halloween.
In Ireland, the practice of carving jack-o'-lanterns began. Jack-o-lanterns are usually made for Halloween. In Europe, Jack-o'-lanterns were made from large turnips, beets, and rutabagas. America introduced the use of pumpkins for Jack-o-lanterns.
The first step in the creation of a Jack O Lantern is to choose a pumpkin. A pumpkin that is nearly symmetrical with no surface imperfections should be selected. A surface imperfection is the perfect for a gruesome pumpkin.
Pumpkin carving kits include a scraper and sawing tools. The kitchen utensils and the pumpkin carving kits make the job of carving easier, safer, and faster.
The following are the material and the directives to prepare Jack-o-Lantern.
Material:
* Tracing paper
* Pencil for drawing
* Scissors for cutting
* White pencil
* Witch hat for decoration
* Lime green paint pen
* Thick white adhesive
* Paintbrush for coloring
* Purple and orange glitter
* Foam or carved jack-o'-lantern
* Film of torn polyester
* Lizard or frog made of plastic
Directives:
* After the pattern is selected and prepared, trace the pattern and cut it out. Make use of the white pencil to trace the pattern on the witch hat.
* A lime green paint pen is used to draw over star shapes. After the first layer of paint dries, paint a thin coat of crafts adhesive in each drawn star shape. Also sprinkle glitter on it. When the color gets dry, then shake off the excess glitter.
* After the decoration is over, place a jack-o'-lantern on torn polyester film along with the hat on top of the jack-o'-lantern. Also add a plastic lizard or frog to the top.
There are many patterns of the Jack O lanterns. The patterns are carved by the people. People started making their own Jack O Lanterns by carving the potato or the turnips.
Thus carving a pumpkin is a tradition in many households during the Halloween season.
Follow the steps shown below for fun and make a jack o' lantern using the templates. The templates displayed on internet should be downloaded in full size version that can be used for carving a pumpkin. Take a print out of the full size template to use in the carving.

Steps:
* After you have cut the template and remove all sides and edges, place the template in center of the pumpkin and tie it.
* Be careful that the template is tied firmly so that it does not move during the tracing.
* Transfer the pattern onto the pumpkin. Make use of the small nail, golf tee, or any other object to make a small hole through the paper. Cut out and make small holes on the pumpkin.
* After you finish tracing, then pumpkin will have an outline of the pattern poke in the skin.
* Make use of the knife or pumpkin to cut out the line on the pumpkin.
* When all the lines have been cut out, light the jack o' lantern with a candle or any other light source.
