Camping Lanterns

Camping lanterns are mostly used for out door purpose and mainly for camp, jungle trekking and in adventure sports. They are light in weight, fire proof and waterproof. They come in various types and in different sizes. Some of the important and commonly used camping lanterns are Waterproof camping lanterns, rechargeable camping lanterns, Propane camping lanterns, battery operated camping lanterns and folding camping lanterns. Cost of each differs according to the quality and facilities available with it. Camping lanterns are either available with gas, fuel or battery operated facilities. These lanterns can work for continuously for 10 hours approximately.

Folding camping lanterns are hot favorite of the camping persons because it weighs less and can be kept in a bag. There is no need of charging batteries; only spare batteries are to be carried along with. Each battery can last for 3 to 5 hours as per the usage. Where in case of propane camping lanterns a propane gas has to be carried which is more dangerous in high altitude and while carrying. Folding camping lanterns can be made waterproof lanterns by covering it with waterproof material. Battery operated camping lanterns are also good for small distance camping as they are heavy comparing to folded camping lanterns.

In case fuel used camping lanterns it is advised to use fresh fuel every time and don't keep fuel in the tank for longer duration if the lantern is not in use. This will degrade the fuel quality and can damage lantern tank and it is also fire hazardous. Other than above stated camping lanterns there other lanterns that can be used for camping purpose; they are solar lanterns, kerosene lanterns and gas lanterns. Pine cone or tree porch lanterns is also available with steel frame along with glass covering and this can be used for approximately for one month period . It has 100 wattage bulb and cost more. The other important out door lanterns can be used for camping is European globe lanterns. They are made of good quality materials that are weather proof and are coated with aluminum powder. They also prevent ultra violet rays from entering into eyes. They are bit costly comparing to other verities of camping lanterns. These lanterns can be tied o a pole or can be kept on plain surface. It has the facility of dimmer that can change the brightness intensity along with on off button. These lanterns can be used while on shipping along with camping purpose.

In case gas and fuel used camping lanterns great care is to be taken when they are in use. No oil or gas should leak from the tank as the camping tents are made of cotton or polythene that can catch fire easily and quickly. Battery operated camping lanterns are most suitable and safe for carrying and for operation. Other improved versions of camping lanterns or garden lanterns are prism lantern that turns candlelight into prism image and provides clear illumination for tent size surroundings. Another one is LED lantern in which light emitting diode bulbs are incorporated for illumination.
